Donkey

Your all probably wondering... What the heck? well ya the first time someone told me to say "repeat after me... I Am A Donkey" i was like, "huh? what the gay?"

I went to a retreat, it was actually more like a conference. it had workshops. one was based on praise. i went there. they guy started by askin, "who here is a leader of praise?" and thinking he meant, who here is on the praise team, i raised my hand, but then his second question was "okay, now who here is on their churches praise team?" and ever since that point, i felt like this guy made no sence. he kept saying weird stuff here and there, but it all tied together in the end.

this workshop was actually directed to those on a praise team. the main point was what worship is, and what we are to do as leaders of praise. we are just donkeys, (another thing i didnt get for a while) and he told everyone to repeat after him, "i am a donkey, i am a donkey" and it just stuck with me. he based this on the story about Jesus, when he rode a donkey. the path of leaves, you no. Jesus could have walked on his own, but he CHOSE to ride the donkey.

we all know, God dosn't Need us, but He chooses to use us anyway. and when He does choose us, He expects us to do it in His name. i am a drummer. when i drum up there on the stage, its not my goal to impress the people, but to praise God, and lead people towards God. ofcourse often i take the glory. i feel good about myself and think, yeah.. i did a good job. but i realized until you reach full humility, you will never be able to be a leader. im on the path towards humility.

When Jesus rode the donkey, the donkey did nothing but do Gods will and Gods will alone. He didnt take a piss break or accept any praise. the people were screaming and praising, but the donkey didn't take any glory. it was all directed to Jesus. i will do what i can to be like the donkey.

Dare to follow the path of God?
