The Marathon

the famine was amazing. Matt Wan, what a man of God. he truly spoke the message God wanted us to hear. i know that we all gota mission ahead of us. we see and hear things that happen around us and we stop what we're doing and think, "oh my gosh, thats awful, thats horible, i cant believe thast happening." yet we continue what we are doing right after and do nothing about it. there was a movie called Hotel Rwanda that we watched. its about the african war. it was prity much gencide. one man said something like this. "surely if we send them the video tape of what's happening, they will do somthing about it." and the other man replied "this will only stop them from eating dinner and continue again" isnt that true? we see whats happening around us, and do nothing about it. we stop and think about it, we think wow thats horible, and continue as if nothing was happening at all.

you know, Christianity is a race. not like the 50, 100, 200, or 400 metre dash. its a marathon. in the 50 - 400, its about winning, its about getting first place. that or nothing. theres a story that goes with this. there was an indian guy who spoke to me the other day in his sermon. he had a friend who was running a marathon. his friend came and asked him "do you want to run the marathon with me?" he replied "no, but i will go there to support you that day" so then the day of the marathon came. after the race started, time passed. eventually he saw people coming in, finishing up the race. he didn't see his friend. after a lot more time passed, he saw some old 70 yearolds come in and he started to laugh. lots and lots more time passed and he realized his friend still didnt pass the finish line. he laughed even more. eventaully he saw his friend come in and he just laughed and said "oh my goodness, you were creamed by everyone, these 70 yearolds passed you and everything, haha" and his friend replied "sam, it's not about who gets first," here i asumed he was going to say, it's about finishing the race, and because i asumed, the message would have been week if he said that line. but no, instead he said this, "- it's about finishing what you started" and i say amen to that. its about comitment. it dosnt matter who tackles us down durring the race. it matters that we get back up again.

im almost 100% sure that each and everyone of you who are reading this has made a commitment to God before. our christian life is about finishing and doing Gods will, to finish what you started. it dosnt matter how many times we stumble and fall. guys, get back up, finish what you started. it dosnt mater who gets there first, we end up spending eternity either with the winners or losers. chose your side.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
-Hebrews 12:1

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
-Timothy 4:7

i know that the Lord will never let me down and i'm completely relying on Him to keep going.
